Thunderbird
Artist - Ovila Mailhot, Stolo and Nlaka'pamux Nation
The Thunderbird reflects the balance, grace, and symmetry found in ancestral designs, showcasing the deep cultural heritage of the Coast Salish people. The Thunderbird symbolizes strength, protection, and transformation, serving as a reminder of the connection between nature and the spiritual world.
Seabird Island, part of the Stolo Nation, and the Nlaka'pamux Nation are Indigenous communities located in British Columbia, Canada, each with a rich history connected to the land. The Stolo people have lived in the Fraser Valley for thousands of years. The Nlaka'pamux, known as the Thompson River people, maintain a strong relationship with the environment through traditional practices centered on fishing and gathering.
